About Us

Junior Science World was founded to help make inquiry science learning accessible and fun for all learners. We currently offer interactive inquiry-based science assemblies at schools, for PTA fundraisers, and for private venues (birthday parties, family reunions, church groups). We also plan to develop and implement: K-8 science teacher professional development programs; K-8 science curricula (for both traditional and home school environments); and extracurricular science camps. We also maintain this blog (http://juniorscienceworld.blogspot.com), a free resource for science teachers which provides links to and discussions about some excellent tools for science teaching available on the web. Junior Science World knows and recognizes the importance of standards-based inquiry science education and is committed to providing our clients with the best educational products and programs available. We are confident that what we have to offer will lead to satisfied customers who return to our products and programs over and over again!

Junior Science World was founded by Brian E. Kinghorn, Ph.D. who received his doctoral degree in Educational Psychology and Educational Technology (with and emphasis on helping K-8 teachers to become better learners and teachers of science) at Michigan State University (MSU) in 2013. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Brigham Young University-Hawaii where he teaches courses in Educational, Developmental, and Cultural Psychology. He is also developing a Psychology of Social Media Course. Until recently, Dr. Kinghorn taught at the Robert B. Miller College  and conducted teacher professional development throughout Michigan for the Battle Creek Area Math and Science Center. While at MSU he taught undergraduate courses in Educational Psychology and Elementary Science Methods and participated in a four-year National Science Foundation (NSF) funded nationwide research project focusing on the needs of early-career secondary science and mathematics teachers. Additionally, since 2002 Dr. Kinghorn has been a teacher/presenter and trainer of extra-curricular science programs and science assemblies. He has presented week-long science camps and other science education programs throughout the United States and Hong Kong and at over 25 United States Air Force bases. Venues for his academic presentations and science shows have included the annual meetings of the American Educational Researchers Association (AERA) in Vancouver, BC and National Association for Research in Science Teaching (NARST) in Baltimore, MD, an Area Conference of the National Science Teacher's Association (NSTA) in Louisville, KY,  the Parents’ Journal 4th Education Expo and Family and Home Show in Hong Kong, and the Association of Christian Schools International Educator Convention in Sacramento, CA. This year he will be presenting at the BYU-Hawaii Center for Learning and Teaching's 1st annual Symposium for Learning and Teaching in Laie, HI, and at the annual conference for the Association for Psychological Sciences (APS) in San Francisco, CA.
